Paweł Biernacki
Dear Readers! Strictly speaking, Paweł Biernacki — the Author, that is to say myself — is indeed the Author, and not a literary character. However, since I do occasionally place characters bearing my surname in my stage works, I have decided to add a handful of facts about myself.
It is true that I was born in Kraków, but I wish to make an emphatic break from the sinister movement of the Krakocentrists. I am not a Warsaw-phobe — on the contrary, I have always enjoyed looking at the Mermaid. In Kraków, I imagine, no lady would dare stand on a monument with a nude breast, given the conservatism so characteristic of its inhabitants. The Wawel Dragon is perhaps the only figure on a monument who is entirely undressed, but I need hardly explain that the Dragon not only lacks a breast, but also breathes fire, so there is really no comparing him to the Mermaid. The claim that Wars abandoned Wanda to avoid paying child support and ran off to Sawa is not corroborated by any sources. I have nothing to do with the Krakocentrists, let alone standing at their head.
I am a free man, i.e. I do not have a cat.
I have never been a client of the Chamber of Torture, and therefore the fellow by the name of "Biernacki" receiving the services of Master Dobromił in one of my theatrical miniatures is a different person entirely.
There is, of course, no theatre bearing my name in Kraków in which my plays are performed exclusively. Nor have I written, as of yet, a play entitled Bolesław the Brave.
This information is current as of today, though it is possible that some of it may become outdated. Should anything change, I will of course keep you informed. I believe the most likely change would be the construction of a theatre bearing my name in Kraków, but for the time being, as far as I am aware, this is not a priority of the City Authorities.
Enjoy your reading!
